What’s New?

New? Oh, not that much. Just, you know, GOT MY FRICKING DEGREE, but other than that… Yes, as of two weeks ago, I am the proud owner of a certificate that I can hang on my wall (I mean I probably won’t do that, because it feels douchey, but I gave a copy to family members so THEY can hang it on their walls and brag about how cool I am. I don’t think they have yet, but I’m sure they will do it soon. Any day now). It looks very fancy. Definitely worth the last three and a half years I’ve spent attaining it. Also, I now have an unconditional offer for my MA and will be starting that next month. I’m moving out of my current flat next week, my last day at work is on Tuesday, and basically IT’S THE END OF AN ERA. I’ve been kind of silent here lately, because I was attempting to recover from doing literally all the things (I think my battery recharge is now at about 60%, but apparently you do not get a complimentary holiday with your degree – shocking, I know) and also because I’m trying to spend time with my friends before I move.

Last week my birthday happened AND my blog also turned two years. I did a survey when my blog turned one last year, but I felt with all the not-posting I’ve been doing lately I should probably focus on actually doing that instead. So yeah… hi! *awkward wave* I DID write a discussion post for the Shattering Stigmas event, and you can read it over here at Shannon’s blog. Other than that, I’ve been playing pokemon X (I may or may not have bought myself a Nintendo 3DS as a reward for getting my BA, because I’m a nerd), listening to Rick Riordan’s books (I loved the Heroes of Olympus series and am now on to The Hidden Oracle), and watching Parks and Rec okay fine and pokemon but I swear my obsession is already turning into a casual like again. I’m also halfway through Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, and my reactions have been up-and-down, but I will hold out judgement until I’ve finished it. Oh! I’m also participating in the OTSP Secret Sister project (it’s kind of like Secret Santa except it’s for six months and with other bloggers), and it’s been really fun already.

The Shiny

I probably got more than that since I last posted, but that’s all I can remember. I’m listening to this as an audiobook, because Rick Riordan’s books are kind of perfect for that, and I keep freaking people out by randomly laughing on the bus. It’s a bonus, really.

How are you, what have I missed? Are you enjoying summer or celebrating that it’s almost over? Is anyone reading Heroes of Olympus or The Hidden Oracle?

First of all, CONGRATULATIONS on getting your degree! That’s awesome! And so not douchey hanging your certificate up (if it’s in your living room, then, yeah, maybe… But bedroom? Not at all). It’s something to be proud of, so hang it up! Or not, if you really don’t want to haha. Secondly, happy belated birthday! Did you have a good day? And, happy blogoversary! *throws confetti*

I’ve only read the first two books in the ‘Percy Jackson’ series by Riordan but I’m looking forward to one day reading his other books.

The Secret Sister project is awesome! Glad you’re enjoying it. :)

CONGRATULATIONS!!! On your degree and birthday and 2 years?! It’s a full week of celebration for you :D I don’t own a Nintendo 3DS but my boyfriend wants me to get a 2DS since its cheaper and plays the same games so we’ll see.
I hope you have a great week!

SO MASSIVE CONGRATS FOR YOUR DEGREE YOU CLEVER BEAN YOU. I HOPE THERE WAS CAKE TO CELEBRATE. (I mean, there must’ve been right??? Due to your blog name and everything.) And also good luck with the movie and packing and aaall that fun stressful stuff that goes along with it. GOOD TIMES. EXCEPT PROBABLY NOT.๐Ÿ˜‚ Ahem.
Ohh, I do so want to listen to Riordan books on audio at some point. They’re hilarious. hehe and I have the Hidden Oracle to read but I haven’t read it yet because….NO I HAVE NO GOOD REASON. I’m a slacker. And I love audiobooks that make you laugh. haha. Have you ever read the Steelheart trilogy by Brandon Sanderson? I laugh SO MUCH while listening to them. It weirds my family out, but hey. Books are awesome. :’)

Thanks so much for your comment and sorry for the late reply! There was definitely cake. :D You should totally listen to The Hidden Oracle! I have to admit some bits didn’t work for me, but overall it’s fun. :) I haven’t read/listened to the Steelheart trilogy yet, no. I wasn’t under the impression that they were that funny, but now that I know, I’ll probably listen to them eventually. :D And yeah I’m familiar with that feeling – sometimes I randomly start laughing on public transportation because of an audiobook. I’m sure it make everyone think I’m a sane, adjusted member of society. :D

VLORA! I didn’t know it was your birthday, I feel like a real asshat. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, my love!! ๐Ÿ˜˜๐Ÿ˜˜๐Ÿ˜˜ Also, happy Reviews and Cakeaversary. That is your blog’s birthday, of course. Two years… good luck with that, two year olds can be real assholes ;) And CONGRATULATIONS on getting your degree! I mean, I will totally hang it on my wall if your family is too self-centered to do so ๐Ÿ˜‚

THANK YOU for Shattering Stigmas! Your post was AWESOME, by the way. And thank you even MORE for being the best blogger/friend/human ever and responding to the comments, because you are kind of like a lifeguard right now, saving a drowning Shannon.

I am SAD that summer is almost over. I love swimming in my parents’ pool, and not having snow, and flip flops (which, let’s be real, I will wear in the winter, but will make my feet cold). Never leave me, summer!

Sorry for the late reply, and thank you very much for your kind comment! I’m glad someone likes summer at least, because it just won’t go away here. I literally had to move to another country to finally escape it haha.

Thanks so much, Samantha! I only recently caught up with Riordan’s books too (in fact, I haven’t even read all of them now), but I’m glad I did, because I really liked the Heroes of Olympus series, and they’re super fun to listen to on audiobook. :)

I am so behind, I have Apollo because it was sent to me but I haven’t even finished Percy Jackson yet! So I am trying to do that this month so I can move on to Heroes of Olympics and then on to Apollo. (I am currently on book four of PJ)

    Have a great week!
