What’s New?

I’m not usually a participant in the TGIF crowd, but THANK GOD IT’S FUCKING FRIDAY. Actually I just wrote that and realized it’s Saturday now. That’s what kind of a week it’s been. Still interning at the radio and had to look after children, who were there on some sort of holiday program this week. Me. Children. Who in the hell would think I’m qualified for that? To be honest, they weren’t that bad, but even looking after well-behaved children is exhausting. I appreciate their enthusiasm though! It also seems I have to work Saturdays as well the next couple of weeks, so basically bye bye, term papers, you’re not getting a photo this week (that was a Germany’s Next Topmodel reference, do they do the photo thing on America’s Next Topmodel too?). I did get a compliment at the office I work at though, so that was cool. Also it’s all good, because it’s the weekend, and I have two free days and Possibly Good News That Are Not Confirmed Yet. I’ll keep you posted and until then I hope your week was amazing, and I’ll see you again SOON.

The Shiny

My mum was ordering some stuff on amazon, so I was like if you’re ordering things aaanyway, you might as well get me a book. It was a joke, but she said yes, so here we are: The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness. I actually want to read The Rest of Us Just Live Here, but it’s not out yet, so… Excuse the bathroom picture, my options were limited when I took it, and I was too lazy to take another pic just now. I did slap an instagram filter over it for you, so clearly I care. I know basically nothing about this book, which means I’m excited to read it!

‘Round the Web

I wasn’t really interneting that much this week apart from reading fanfiction in between 5 minute breaks, but who’s paying attention, so I don’t have tons of links for you.

On the Blog

  • I’m hosting a Blogger Friending Meme! If you want to meet new bloggers or find out more about the ones you already know check it out. Tune of the Week

Another intern played this one the first week I was interning at the radio, and I’m still listening to it. It’s quite awesome!

As always, I’m linking up with Stacking the Shelves, hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and the Sunday Post hosted by the Caffeinated Book Reviewer!

Yay for Moms – still have yet to read Patrick Ness – but definitely want to. LOL, that would be a cool meme, Books in the Bathroom! Would be a good reason for people to clean it and make it tidy for photo ops ;-) And I like your Tune of the Week, gonna share it.

I hope the good news is real!! Kids ARE exhausting. Now, I don’t have any well-behaved ones to speak for, mine are absolute messes, but holy crap, I want to cry and collapse and then cry again when they finally go to bed.

As for America’s Next Top Model, they used to do the photo thing, but now Tyra has some dumb screen and the loser’s picture goes dark. Meh. We also have dudes now- do you have dudes? Honestly, it’s kind of fun. They are even more catty than the girls most of the time, plus now it’s some kind of model sextravaganza. My spell check agrees with that as a word, weird.

The Knife of Never Letting Go! I adore. I have the ugly old cover, but I want the new pretty one. You MUST read TRoUJLH (totally a thing right?). Now, your choice problem will lie in the cover. Do you go with the US version that glows in the dark? OR the non-US version with the electric blue pages. DECISIONS ARE HARD. I may do the non-US one, because I have the ARC cover of the US one, but it doesn’t glow in the dark.

It is! I got a car (just for a couple of months, but still). It makes everything SO much easier, because if it took me an hour to get somewhere before, it now takes me 15 minutes. Very cool!

And I don’t even know how you do it re: kids. I’ve discovered I can tolerate like the well-behaved ones when they’re a bit older and talk to me about the stuff they’re interested in when it happens to be the stuff I’m interested in also (Harry Potter, The Hunger Games, fierce discussions about popular YA books). Someone say that YA reading doesn’t pay off in random life situations haha. I MAY like them more if I’m related to them, but I haven’t head the misfortune of finding out yet, so who knows. (I’m just being grumpy, I don’t actually dislike children, I just want them to keep a safe distance. Like spiders.)

CLEARLY YOUR SPELLCHECK KNOWS YOU hahaha. I don’t think we have dudes, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they copied that. To be honest, I don’t really watch the show, because apparently I’ve been online too much not to feel like it’s too sexist to bear. That and it’s like ten minutes of the good stuff and then ninety of people waiting whether they made it or not, which is just boring as hell. I did like to watch the photo shoots and stuff when I used to watch it. Maybe America’s Next Topmodel does a better job than the German version of it though, I’ve only watched it like once!

It glows in the dark? That guy must have a huge marketing budget. I’ve only seen the UK version with the blue pages, which I LOVED. I’ll probably get that one if I order it on amazon, because they usually ship me the UK stuff, but who knows. I think I want the UK one, but the glowing is definitely awesome as well!

Children can be a little overenthusiastic, even if they are being good at the time. :/ I hope that you can spend the rest of your weekend resting a little bit, even if that just means recovering from their noise! You’ve shared some very interesting links, though… I hope to check them out soon. Thanks!

Yes, absolutely, especially when they come in larger numbers. I have since recovered though, and now only have to deal with 2-3 of them at once, which is absolutely fine. :D Have a great week, Heather!

I know what you mean, children can be exhausting, although they can be fun around I can only handle them for short amounts of time. That’s so nice your mom bought you a book! I wish I ever could convince my mom to buy me books, she prefers to buy something practical for me. I own a copy of The Knife of Never Letting go, but haven’t read it yet.
I’ll have to stop by your blogger friendly meme again to see if more people responded. I think it’s a lot of fun to see what other bloggers reply. I hope you’ll have a great week!

Yeah, I only have to deal with 2-3 of them at once now when they come in to do their radio show, and that’s actually been perfectly fine! Yesterday, I talked through the segment of two girls who were discussing Harry Potter fan theories and popular movies and was like WE HAVE ALL THE SAME INTERESTS. :D Pffft, books are totally practical. Just imagine a burglar breaks in – what better to throw at his head than a heavy book? And what if your table needs propping up? And, most importantly, it’s decoration AND knowledge at the same time! How can that not be practical? Have a good week!

I teach 6th grade, so I definitely hear you on how tiring kids can be. Lol. On America’s Next Top Model, Tyra used to say: There are two beautiful girls in front of me, but I only have one photo in my hands. But they’ve changed the format so that the picture of the person staying in the competition shows on a screen. They’ve completely messed up that show and it isn’t even worth watching anymore. I have feelings about this, as you can see. Hope your week is awesome!

Well, that’s a whole other dimension haha. HOW DO YOU DO IT. I would just fall exhausted into bed at 5 every day and sleep for at least 12 hours. Boo screens, physical pictures are clearly more dramatic. Thanks, hope you have a fantastic week ahead of you!

Aaw, your mother is as awesome as your grandmother in buying you surprise shiny’s! That is a total score! I really want to read The Rest of Us, too, although I do think it’s out here… possibly… I haven’t read any of his work at all, though! And know very little about it overall! Hopefully your newest arrival is fantastic.
That song. Was surprising and yes, I think it’s definitely kind of awesome. Like very. Like catchy and I’M INTO IT. HOW DID THIS HAPPEN.

    Have another lovely week. xx

She has her moments! I just love buying books. I can’t read them as fast as I buy them though, so I might want to take a break haha. I think it might be out now? I know it was about to come out soon when I last checked! I love the edition with the blue pages; I think I’ll get that one. :) Me either, didn’t really know him before.

Hahahaha I’M NOT SORRY. Glad you enjoy the song! :D

Whoa, that sounds like you have had quite the busy week, but haven’t we all! Yeah, children in general are tiring whether they are well behaved or not. But I do love them anyway <3 Honestly, being around kids makes me so happy. I also want to read The Knife of Never Letting Go myself! So I hope you enjoy it :)
